The Power of No

I was going to buy a copy of The Power of Positive Thinking, and then I thought: What the hell good would that do? – Ronnie Shakes

NoThere are few things more powerful in the English language than the word “No”. Some people just can’t say it.  Some people just can’t stop.

No saves you from taking out the trash. No saves you from dates with odd-smelling riffraff. No can save you time doing things you don’t want to do. No lets you keep reading the Twilight books.

No has a lot of positive things associated with it.

But nothing kills a creative idea faster than “No”. Nothing stops someone from giving input faster than “No”.

If you say No at the wrong time, you can hurt someone’s feelings, deny yourself an opportunity, or even end a friendship.

Of course, if you tell your boss no, you’d better have a good reason.

Choose your time and place for no carefully, or you may live to regret it.

(No, you won’t). And if you need a little help saying no, check out how Dr. Cox does it:

  • I think for many millennials, the word No is a challenge - we love challenges and given enough energy drinks, we have enough time for everything.

Too bad it's often a hard-learned lesson that we don't!

  • Haha, no is such a great word. I'm using it to make my relationship better. For instance, when I just want to stay in and work on my blog, I say so even though that's totally dorky. ;)
