Monday Millennials – Stuff you should see for 6/1/2009

Okay, so the economy is in the tanks.

SuperheroesIt’s no secret that the economy is in the tanks.  Millennials are changing their spending habits, becoming more frugal.  Marketers believe that this change will be long-lasting, since we’re all smart enough to avoid repeating our mistakes.

The future is not so dire.  A recent experiment on advertising for Doritos has shown that when millennials market to other millennials, sales increased 22%.

What’s happening is a fundamental shift in economic power.  Big, greedy, corrupt businesses can no longer sustain themselves.  The best and the brightest are going into business for themselves, forsaking the traditional bonds of servitude to a corporation.  The old ways of offshore outsourcing and golden parachutes just aren’t feasible anymore.  Just like cartoons, business is affected by the rising generation.

Millennials are plenty happy to wait out the recession in their parent’s basement – biding their time before they attempt to save the world.

And we will save the world.  We have to.
