Resume Updating
To get the best effect out of my site, you really should start over and build your source materials that I outline in Resume Preparation. But, if you’re here it means you’re one of those stubborn types that just wants a few pointers to get back into the game or make sure you’re at least using the right playbook.
So, my best tip to you is to visit Resume Style. If your efforts line up with what I have in both the Preparation side and the Style side, then you’re on the right track. If not… I would seriously consider starting over – it will take you just as long to get your current resume up to snuff and afterward, you’ll have a re-usable list of materials that you can use to save you time the next time you create a resume!
If you’re super-stubborn though, check out the Resume Sections page to see about re-ordering your resume and then the Resume Resources page to see things you can do to zest up your current digs.
Remember – a resume should be updated each time you have to apply for a job. This means that if you’re young, you’ll be making a lot of new resumes until you find a job that suits you. Or, maybe you just have a problem with authority. In any case, updating your existing resume only really works and is worth it if your existing resume is working for you.
